I was outraged to learn that my former wife posted a completely false review of MY lawyer, Ron Stone. Ron represented me in my divorce, which was he able to finalize in a matter of months, despite my wife trying to make it difficult from the get-go, as evidenced by my testimonial to him on this very website! Unfortunately, Covid hit soon after my divorce was final, and my former wife refused to sell our marital home, where she continued to reside, per the terms of our Separation Agreement, and Agreement which HER lawyer prepared. Despite repeated requests, Ron had to file a contempt proceeding in late 2021 to force her to cooperate in the sale of the house. She tried everything in her power to prevent the sale. In court, on March 21, 2022, she stated to the judge that it looked like a third grader had written the Separation Agreement. Eight days later she then posted anonymously a review of Attorney Stone on his website, falsely stating that we were "previously amenable", whatever that means, and that the "divorce agreement could have been written by a fourth grader." I, once again, am extremely grateful for Ron's refusal to stop fighting for me. Finally, the marital home was sold in September of this year! I highly recommend him.

This person has caused irreversible damage to the previously amenable relationship, between the two parties. The divorce agreement was handwritten, and could have been written by a fourth grader.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
