Overview
Benjamin M. Flam is an experienced employment attorney with broad domestic and international experience in employment law and policy. He represents employees and executives in complex employment matters before state and federal courts and administrative agencies, with a particular focus on civil rights, employment discrimination, executive advocacy, and employment-related disputes.
A significant part of Ben’s practice involves representing federal employees and contractors in security clearance and national security matters, including special agents and investigative personnel associated with agencies such as the FBI, OPM, and EPA. He also advises executives on employment agreements, compensation arrangements, equity grants, severance, restrictive covenants, and other employment and corporate matters.
Ben has extensive experience in fair housing, housing discrimination, reasonable accommodation, and civil rights. He was appointed to the Massachusetts Fair Housing Coalition, where he works with the Massachusetts housing community, MCAD, HUD, and the Civil Rights Division of the Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office on housing discrimination regulations, guidelines, and training initiatives.
Before joining Gordon Law Group in 2010, Ben served as the Reasonable Accommodation Coordinator and Chief Civil Rights Investigator at the Boston Housing Authority, where he developed reasonable accommodation policies, investigated civil rights complaints, provided civil rights and fair housing training, and chaired the Mediation and Diversity Project. A certified mediator, he continues to provide mediation services and conduct educational programs on fair housing and reasonable accommodation law.
Ben also brings an international perspective to his practice, including experience working with the Liberian Working Group on efforts to establish a war crimes tribunal relating to the Sierra Leone civil war. He serves as an expert on U.S. employment law in international litigation and has been recognized as a Top Rated Employment & Labor Attorney by Super Lawyers and as a 2018 Excellence in the Law Honoree by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
