Attorney Information
Overview
In January 2011, Attorney Yannetti handpicked Attorney Greg L. Johnson to join him at the Yannetti Criminal Defense Firm after the two attorneys had battled each other in a highly contested and lengthy gun case in the Lawrence District Court. At the time, Greg was working as a prosecutor for the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. Attorney Yannetti viewed first-hand the skill Greg exhibited, as well as the respect he commanded from judges and court personnel. Attorney Yannetti was so impressed that he offered Greg an associate’s position in the firm.
During his career as an assistant district attorney, Greg gained invaluable trial experience, which included his representation of the Commonwealth as lead counsel in approximately fifty jury trials. In 2008, he was selected to work under the Project Safe Neighborhood Grant funded by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. His responsibilities in that position included prosecuting all firearms and gang-related offenses in the City of Lawrence. In that role, Attorney Johnson handled a wide variety of serious felony cases, including shootings, assaults by means of dangerous weapons, narcotics distribution and firearms cases. In 2008, the Massachusetts District Attorney’s Association selected Greg to receive the Spotlight Award which is issued annually to prosecutors in recognition of outstanding service, spirit, and professionalism.
Attorney Johnson was promoted in January of 2010 to the position of Supervising ADA at the Lawrence District Court, one of the five busiest courts in the Commonwealth. He was responsible for the training and supervision of ten Assistant District Attorneys. Before leaving the District Attorney’s Office, Attorney Johnson presented approximately ten serious felony cases to the Grand Jury and handled those matters in the Essex County Superior Court.
Greg’s extensive experience and substantial growth as a trial lawyer are integral components of his success at the Yannetti Criminal Defense Firm. His ability to assess, analyze, and exploit the weaknesses in the prosecutor’s cases against his clients is a tool that informs his daily approach to our cases inside and outside the courtroom.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
