Consulted Attorney 2021BEWARE ! If I could give Alexandra Glover zero stars I would. I had a horrible experience with her and would never recommend anyone ever use her. After being referred to her regarding a legal real estate issue, I called and left several messages and emails trying to get an appointment with her, I got no response so I decided to look elsewhere. After months all of a sudden I get a call out of the blue from her and not knowing or expecting her call I did not have the information available in front of me nor prepared with questions for an initial consultation regarding the issue at hand that both myself and my brother wanted to discuss to see what or if she could do anything for us. After a brief call, I called back wanting to ask her a couple of questions my brother and I needed to ask before making a decision to proceed further with her. She called back and I conferenced connected my brother in on the call so we could both hear the answers to our questions. Imagine my surprise when I received a bill for the time she spent talking on the phone of almost $200 when we never got the appointment for the initial consultation with her nor expected her phone call months after I gave up trying to reach her and was never informed by her that she would be charging us for her call by the minute. I have never been charged for an initial consultation by an attorney on anything! I never set an appointment with her, never met or saw her in person nor signed any paperwork with her nor was told she would be charging us by the minute for her phone call even though she was driving in the car on the way to see a client when she was talking to us! This kind of greedy unethical action is what gives attorneys a bad name! When I emailed her questioning the bill and that she never informed us there was a charge for her phone consultation after months of not returning my messages, she told me to find another law firm and she wasn’t rescinding the charge. If you are thinking about using her DON’T! You will be truly sorry.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
