Overview
J. Eric Chisholm received his undergraduate degree cum laude from Salem State College and his law degree from Suffolk University Law School. He served as an enlisted member of the Massachusetts Army National Guard from 1995 through 2001. While attending Suffolk University Law School, Eric was a member of the Voluntary Prosecutor’s Clinic, where he represented the Commonwealth of Massachusetts as a 3:03 certified Assistant District Attorney, gaining valuable courtroom experience early in his legal career.
Eric began his practice representing claimants at a national Social Security Disability firm, handling SSDI cases across the country. He later transitioned to one of the Commonwealth’s more prestigious workers’ compensation insurance defense firms, where he represented large insurance companies and self-insured entities. With a desire to return to representing individuals—and armed with firsthand knowledge of how insurers evaluate and defend claims. Eric shifted his practice to advocating exclusively for injured workers.
Eric spent over twelve years at one of Massachusetts’ most respected employee-side workers’ compensation firms, representing injured workers throughout the Commonwealth. He also spent a brief period at one of the state’s largest personal injury firms. Ultimately, however, the high-volume nature of that practice did not align with his belief that clients deserve direct access to their attorney and personalized representation. That belief led him to found Chisholm Law LLC, where the focus remains on providing attentive, client-centered legal services.
Over the course of his more than twenty-year career, Eric has received consistent recognition for his work on behalf of injured workers. He holds an “AV” rating from Martindale-Hubbell and a 10.0 rating from Avvo. He was selected to Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star from 2008 through 2012, recognizing top attorneys under 40. More recently, Eric has been selected to Super Lawyers for 2025 and 2026, further reflecting his continued reputation as one of the leading workers’ compensation attorneys in Massachusetts.
