Overview
Philip L. Arnel was born on February 27, 1961 in Boston, Massachusetts. He concentrates his practice in the areas of criminal defense of both adults and juveniles, sealing and expunging state criminal records (“CORI”), updating/correcting and sealing/expunging FBI arrest-fingerprint records (Interstate Identification Index or “III”), civil litigation, personal/bodily injury (motor vehicle accidents, motorcycle accidents, bicycle accidents, pedestrian accidents, construction accidents, premises liability, recreational accidents, slip and fall cases, carnival accidents, amusement park accidents, etc.) and other negligence matters, wrongful death, defending against the issuance of restraining orders (209A Abuse Prevention Order and 258E Harassment Prevention Order), and expunging records of 209A and 258E orders. He is admitted in good standing to practice in both the Massachusetts state and federal courts.
Mr. Arnel graduated cum laude from the University of Massachusetts in 1983 with a major in electronic communications and a minor in business administration. He also received a First Class Radiotelephone Operator License from the Federal Communications Commission. Upon his graduation from college and for the next ten years, he designed and sold industrial roofing systems and attended evening law school during the last four years of this occupation. Mr. Arnel also possesses an Unrestricted Construction Supervisor License from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Public Safety.
In 1994, Mr. Arnel graduated on the Dean's List and was awarded his Juris Doctorate from the New England School of Law in Boston. He was a recipient of the New England Scholar Award. He founded his own private law practice in 1994 and to date has documented his certified attendance at 174 training seminars (689.25 total credit hours), a claim that he confidently challenges any other practicing attorney to match. Mr. Arnel has been a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, Norfolk County Bar Association, Plymouth County Bar Association, National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Massachusetts Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys and The American Association for Justice.
Mr. Arnel envisions his law practice as a litigation-oriented full service law office with extensive experience in both criminal and civil matters and an emphasis on providing legal services in the most cost-effective, efficient and results-oriented manner. Having earned a solid reputation for his intense and relentless style, Mr. Arnel's take-charge and cut-to-the-chase approach has enabled him to successfully represent thousands of clients in various legal forums. Refusing to ever sell any client short, Mr. Arnel will persevere and grind insurance adjusters, opposing counsel, prosecutors and judges alike to obtain the best possible results for the client; for the satisfied client is undoubtedly his best source for future referrals. Unprofessional, disinterested, discourteous and frustrating lawyers seemingly being at the top of their intolerable peak in recent years, you will take comfort in knowing that every telephone call will be promptly returned, that your case will be the most important, and that you will receive the same respect and consideration that Mr. Arnel expects and commands. Always.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level
- - Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials
- - How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost
- - How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City
- - Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
