Hired Law firm 2021-2022When your freedom and your life are on the line, you never want to settle for "second best." Retaining Patrick Barone and his team was the best decision I made when I found myself in legal trouble. I was charged with 3 serious felonies and was scared of what might happen to me. His team immediately made me feel like family and brought me confidence that they had my back no matter what and that they would fight to the end for my case. Ryan Ballard, who did my initial consultation after I first called the firm, was remarkably humble, honest, and reassuring. From a person who was navigating the legal system for the first time, Ryan being able (and willing) to answer the phone for my family at 9:30 pm when I got arrested or calling me back in 30 minutes after I called the firm, showed me right away the Barone Defense Firm has one goal: client satisfaction. Patrick is also one of the most experienced attorneys around and his connections within the justice system PAY! Without Patrick and his prior professional experience with the prosecution in my case, there is almost no chance we would have gotten the results we did. Patrick was able to pull off an incredible feat and got the "best case scenario" plea deal that was initially very unlikely to happen. Then he got me the best sentence. He sent the judge a letter that had all my background information and he helped me find the best words for when I talked to the Judge at sentencing. Instead of possibly years in jail, I ended up with probation. When I'm done, I also won't have to register with the State. I'd like to add that Patrick and his firm are very fair with their pricing methods. Often attorneys work on an hourly basis, but Patrick works on a flat rate, which means you don't have to ask yourself if it is "worth the money" to ask for more information or talk to him since it's all part of his upfront pricing. Patrick is a very responsive and attentive attorney who was always willing to answer any questions I had for him, which was very comforting while I was in a very stressful situation. Patrick has many years of experience in the legal system, which allows him to navigate the legal system and defend his clients with a level of expertise that few other attorneys could replicate. The past year has been by far the most stressful year for me and my family but having Patrick and his team on my side gave me the confidence and faith that I needed to make it to where I am today. Truly I am incredibly grateful for Patrick and his team and everything that he has done for me and my family. If I ever had to go through this again, there is no doubt that I would instantly hire Patrick. He really is just that good!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
