Hired Attorney 2025I was looking at a 3rd DUI jail time and a felony. Jay worked his magic and was able to get it reduced and get me into sobriety court where im working towards getting my license back. I was not charged with a felony or any jail time. I would highly recommend Jay he did me right and was the affordable option for me. Thank you Jay for working so hard on my case!

Hired Attorney 2022-2024I would highly recommend Jay Clothier to anyone. He has represented me numerous times throughout a long OWI process. There were so many intricate details that Jay made so easy for me to do. Listen to him and he will confidently get you the best deal possible. I should have been charged for a third OWI and he was able to get the judge to drop it to a second. That was such a blessing for me and I’m so grateful Jay was the one representing me. If you’re shopping around for lawyers, he’s the best of the best.

Hired Attorney 2019This guy is the absolutely best attorney I have ever met. He defended my girlfriend against some BS charges and was very very aggressive and proactive in getting a just outcome for us. Absolute street fighter, cursed a lot (funny!) and fought tooth and nail to get the charges dropped and he was successful. If you need an attorney in Flint, Michigan or surrounding areas to defend you in criminal court, look no further. This is your guy. Tell him Mark and Emily sent you!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
