Verified ClientHired Attorney Howard Van Den Heuvel 2015Howard Van Den Heuvel has the demeanor of a highly experienced, well spoken, and gentle lawyer that belies his sharp cunning and wit. I hired him in mid 2015 all way up until just about the end of the year, so I had the pleasure of spending quite a lot of time with him in a variety of legal settings. Howard always had a variety of masterful strategies on hand he was ready to adapt to the situation. He fought hard and he fought well for my rights, and for that am immensely grateful. I would certainly recommend him.

Verified ClientHired Attorney Justin Van Den Heuvel 2015Justin Van Den Heuvel is a sharp, well spoken lawyer with a keen mind. I hired him in mid 2015 all way up until just about the end of the year, so I had the pleasure of spending quite a lot of time with him in a variety of legal settings. He was always professional, but he has a direct and informed manner about him I greatly appreciated. He was never caught off guard by the opposing counsel, never intimidated, and he was always ready to utilize what seemed to be an encyclopedia of law information in his mind. I definitely recommend him, he was invaluable to me.

Verified ClientHired Attorney Justin Van Den Heuvel 2015In 2012 I came to van den huevel law office looking for help with child custody and divorce. Howard van den huevel took me in as a client and helped me in the beginning with much of my divorce and custody. In 2015 justin took over and I became his client as he helped me with my on going custody battles and has been very helpful and treated me like family and when I had very little money I was able to make pymnt arrangement with the van den huevel law office to pay so I could acquire their services, very pleased with that in fact when no other office would take my case without a huge lump sum. I would recommend justin van den huevel to anyone he is very smart and a knowledgeable person of the law and was able to help me get my kids fast and when I have or had a problem he is right there to give me advice and guide me down the right path. I have been very happy and pleased with Justin's services and Howard's. They are great attorney and even better people. I will always keep them on retainer as I am very pleased with his work and how they handle my case. I couldn't have asked for better attorneys or friends especially when I needed them the most. I give Justin my highest recommendation.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
