Attorney Information

Overview

Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Jason is the youngest of 11 children. His upbringing instilled a strong sense of community and perseverance that continues to shape his work today. He graduated from Lawrenceville High School in southern Illinois in 1983, following earlier studies at Wayland Union High School and East Kentwood High School in the suburbs of Grand Rapids.

In 1988, Jason earned a bachelor’s degree in political science with a minor in journalism from Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Michigan, laying a foundation for his keen analytical and communication skills. He furthered his legal education at Thomas M. Cooley Law School, receiving his Juris Doctor in 1993.

Upon admission to the State Bar of Michigan in 1993, Jason established a robust private practice in Grand Rapids. His areas of focus encompass a broad spectrum of litigation, including personal injury, criminal defense, drunk driving, driver’s license restoration, and civil litigation. His extensive experience in both criminal and civil law has been marked by numerous successful settlements and trial outcomes.

Jason has a proven track record of success in the courtroom, successfully trying cases ranging from drunk driving to murder. He has achieved notable victories in drunk driving defense, including high-BAC cases (0.21) and not guilty verdicts before a jury. He’s also exposed flaws in breathalyzer technology to successfully “beat the machine.” In civil litigation, he has secured substantial personal injury settlements and verdicts following auto negligence cases, wrongful death claims, and dog bites. He has achieved multiple results over $1 million.

Jason is an active member of the State Bar of Michigan, regularly participating in the Negligence, Criminal Law, and Business Sections. His past affiliations with the American Bar Association, the National College for DUI Defense, and the American Inns of Court further underscore his commitment to legal excellence and ongoing professional development.

Jason is the proud father of three children, and his personal and professional life reflects a commitment to integrity and service. His demonstrated success in high-stakes litigation makes him a valuable resource for clients as well as aspiring or experienced litigators. As a seasoned trial lawyer, Jason understands the importance of meticulous preparation, persuasive advocacy, and unwavering dedication to his clients.
