Verified ClientHired Law firm 2021-2024Renee has been a wonderful lawyer, helping me through many family law battles. Her communication is wonderful, as is the way she presents herself in court. I always trust what she has to say and she is very knowledgeable in everything I have gone through. I recently just had to hire her again for family court and she helped ease my stress and made everything so much easier than if I were to do it alone. I will continue to have her as my lawyer, whenever I need to, and can?t recommend her enough!

Hired Law firm 2012-2013Our company hired Renee Wagenaar by way of our primary lawyer handling multiple collection cases/breach of contract claims. When customers who were being sued started spouting "fraud" and pushed back threatening "FBI investigations" etc, she folded and withdrew, citing "medical issues". Yet she maintained many other cases and did not withdraw. This put us in a very bad position as the attorney she handed off to Roland Lind withdrew too, they were working together clearly. This is no way to represent civil litigation and I simply cannot recommend this firm. The facts speak for themselves.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
