We worked with this law office for several months and had a very disappointing experience. We were repeatedly told that progress was being made on our case, including that requests had been sent out, only to later find out that no action had actually been taken. On top of that, our file was misplaced for a period of time, which caused further delays. Because of this, our case was delayed significantly, and we believe it may have negatively impacted the potential financial outcome. Due to the lack of communication, follow-through, and overall handling of our case, we decided to terminate representation and seek new counsel. We would recommend asking detailed questions and closely monitoring progress if you choose to work with this office.

Dear Mr piper , IAM still waiting for the right to sue letter , I wanted to see . When you had me signed are agreement , that you stated that I don't have to file a administrative claim to file a law suit under the family medical leave Act. And you said you could file that before hand. So I hope you did . Thank you . As soon I receive the right to suit letter that I will see you in your office . Mr william bice.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
