Hired Law firm 2011-2012Mr. Miller has a poor attitude about his clients, and therefore does not do a good job of taking care of them. He only spoke to me if he thought he had too. He was very unsuccessful in managing a deal with the other attorney and therefore we went to trial. I spend 4 days feeling like I was the one on trial. The attorney for the defendant was young and up to date on all the latest software and equipment. He has videos, slides, and worse of all he had the doctor that fixed me on his side. There was not way I would have won this case. Mr. Miller hired a doctor with a bad reputation from somewhere in the east and read a deposition. One doctor (with a poop rep) against 3 for the defendant. Of course I lost. Then the doctor sued me and I did not even know about it until it came in the mail that I owe this doctor almost $10,000 for lost of wages for the 4 days in court. Tom did nothing for this as he want not getting paid for it, but if I would have known this was happening before I got the letter, I would have paid him to stop it. Now I am forced to work part time to pay this debt. This lawyer is not worth your time. Get someone else. Even if you have to pay, because in the end you will pay.

Hired Law firm 2011-2015Hiring this attorney was the mistake of my LIFE, literally. Do Not, Do Not hire this attorney before doing your homework, I sure should have. Never in my life, before this, have I ever had any contact with an attorney whatsoever, so I wasn’t sure what to expect or what to ask to be honest, and that’s MY fault. But you would think an attorney with this much time under his belt would have taken a little more time, care, and understanding for his own client, especially knowing his state of mind and what he had been through already. This wasn’t your “normal” case people. Not only do I feel I was taking advantage of, and rushed into a decision that would FOREVER change my life by a Doctor, during the “Procedure” he almost killed me, literally! I didn’t ask the questions and ask the background knowledge of this attorney in this matter, and I admit now I should have(boy how things might’ve been different if I had). I venture to say that if I did I would’ve found out that this attorney not only was clueless in this matter, i’m guessing I would’ve found out his track record of winning cases was about 20%. Long story short, I hired this attorney out of the kindness of my heart, and the fact I felt my case was not only settleable, any good attorney could prove that this Doctor was highly negligent. Here’s the kicker, at first the case was against 2 Doctors, not knowing which one was “at fault”. But the “Expert” witness this attorney found, who was from the other side of the country by the way, testified that it was the “wrong” doctors fault! I however would not find out how bad I was screwed over until it was too late. So I was made to look a fool in court to top off the fact my life is forever changed health wise. Now I am stuck with the reality of knowing this for the rest of my life. Do your homework on your attorney that you plan on hiring, and in my opinion for god sake do not hire this one.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
