Consulted Attorney 2018This lady destroyed my life. While at our meeting, we discussed a plan that I would present a reasonable offer to the other party through Rhonda Magnussen and if the other party didn't like the offer, she would simply flip it and therefore, I would then have to accept the same offer I was offering. Simple, right? Nope, for some unknown reason, instead of sticking with our plan, she unilaterally determined the home would be sold at an auction. This significantly increased the amount of money Rhonda Magnussen was to receive. She initially indicated, "Her fees would be minimal" However, once she determined the home was to be sold at an auction, not only did the auctioneer receive $18,000 but Rhonda herself received in excess of $13,000 which put the total cost of sale over $39,000. This was directly due to Rhonda's failure to uphold her duties as the court appointed referee. I understand that she couldn't simply make the other party accept the offer, however she certainly could've informed the court of the situation and recommended the home be sold to me for $225,000. I previously offered to purchase the home in July of 2016 for $225,000 and again in March or April of 2018. Although neither of my offers were accepted, the home sold via auction to the opposing party for, you guessed it, $225,000. This lady is awful. If you have her as a court appointed referee - IMMEDIATLEY RUN!!! I personally spent over $15,000 for my attorneys, then with Rhonda's help, threw away other $39,000 fees(auctioneer $18,000, Rhonda $13,000 +/- plus closing costs) to sell my home. The home was essentially stollen from me and has since doubled in value. Thanks Rhonda!
