Attorney Information
Overview
Julianne Markiewicz is a leading nationwide expert in the areas of matrimonial law, dissolutions involving complex financial issues, custody, and spousal maintenance, as well as divorce, child custody and parenting time, equitable division of property, child support, spousal maintenance, modifications and enforcement, prenuptial agreements, domestic violence, high asset dissolution of marriage, child vaccine disputes, divorce for wealthy individuals, personal injury, and DWI. She is also a recognized specialist in the crafting, negotiation, and drafting of complex prenuptial agreements and all classes of adoptions. A top graduate of Hamline University School of Law, she possesses qualified expertise with decades of courtroom experience. With a deep history forged by her extensive and varied background in civil litigation, she has handled hundreds of cases spanning a myriad of complex issues. The courtroom is Julianne’s backyard.
Recently featured on award-winning Impact Makers Radio, Julianne advised and led listeners through the pitfalls of the emotional divorce process in an information-packed interview entitled “You’re Getting Divorced – Now What?” She is a champion of strategic thinking and decision-making to maximize recovery for divorce litigants with a close eye on costs.
To add to her recent list of accomplishments, Ms. Markiewicz was hand-selected by Remarkable Press’ national search for an exceptional divorce professional to author the litigation chapter in the best-selling divorce book series Stress-Free Divorce: Leading Divorce Professionals Speak. Published by Remarkable Press, this award-winning book hand-picks and places focus on true advocates for the success of divorcing couples in America, while at the same time pledging 100% of the royalties from the retail sales of the book to be donated to Junior Achievement, a nonprofit Corporation focused on leading young people to the exploration of benefits of entrepreneurship.
Julianne is a national leader, practicing law with compassion and integrity. A known fighter and advocate, she is someone that you want to have in your corner in your time of need.
Julianne’s office is centrally located in the small, well-knit community of White Bear Lake. Right around the corner from Julianne’s office is the senior living complex of Pioneer Manor, hosting 42 senior apartment units on a beautiful corner lot. Julianne has become known as the “go-to” for the legal needs of its elderly population. From health care directives to amending complex trust documents, Julianne performs these services of the communities’ elderly constituents on a pro bono basis. This service to the community is a niche for the needs of the elderly. Julianne’s clients stop by when out for a daily stroll in their walkers or just to have a small cup of “warmer” coffee as they go about their daily errands. This is just one of the hallmarks of generosity of Julianne’s practice.
In addition to her successful track record in family and civil courtrooms, Julianne has been a mainstay headliner in the entertainment law industry, providing guidance, negotiation, and detailed strategic drafting of Sponsorship Contracts for major recording stars, including Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Shelby Lynne, and Miranda Lambert. This included implementation of branding and marketing platforms to build sales and increase market share for artists and corporate brands. Sponsors included Cruzan Rum, Absolut Vodka, Crown Imports, Corona and Corona light, Hard Rock International, Hooters Restaurants, Fiji Water and Costa Del Mar sunglasses. Julianne was also involved in the groundbreaking contract negotiations for implementation of brand and marketing for the rising prominence of Skinny Girl Cocktails.
Julianne does not have a standard hourly rate that is published and presented to Clients. Rather, she works on a permanent sliding fee scale, where she determines every individual client’s needs and financial stature. Ranging from pro bono to greatly reduced hourly rates, Julianne strives to meet the legal needs of all—not just those who can afford. Last year, a divorce client passed away, and his brother came to Julianne in need. She probated the Estate for $100 an hour and covered the expenses. Clients in need get served—come hell or high water. Julianne cannot and will not close her door to the downtrodden and hurting.
Businesses in the White Bear Lake area KNOW and TRUST Julianne. The local Starbucks always has a stash of Julianne’s cards right next to the espresso machine. When a Client comes in and is hurting, the motto is “you need Julianne.” From Panera Bread to The Big Bear Car Wash to Freedom Gas Station to Domino’s Pizza to Hugo Nails, local businesses in the community know and trust Julianne and refer all of their friends and business constituents in need to Markiewicz Law.
Julianne serves as the President of the Board at The Shoppes at Banning and Fifth, a prominent business condominium complex located in the heart of the City of White Bear Lake. This non-compensating Board seat presents daily challenges, with everything from zoning and fire safety issues to balancing the budget to meet the needs of this hallmark gathering place in the heart of her community.
Julianne was recently asked to serve on the Ramsey County Conflicts Panel for low-income clients in St. Paul in need of Family Law Services. By providing counsel and comfort to those in need on a pro bono and reduced fee scale, Julianne gives back to the community with her talents and compassionate and learned services.

Verified ClientHired Attorney 2016Julianne is smart, bright, forthright, strategic, effective, empathetic, and one of the most stay-on-top-of-things professionals I have worked with in a long time. She not only stays on top of your case, she quickly communicates updates to you within minutes of receiving them. She is REAL with her clients and walks her talk. As she succinctly posted on her professional FB page earlier, "when you want a fair and amiable settlement... When you need guidance and advocacy..." I concur, Julianne is the one you want to guide you through the legal process you have before you. Her paralegal rocks, too. GloriaB

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
