Hired Attorney 2014-2016Please whatever you do DO NOT hire Jerald Crawford. He deliberately ignored me, was rude when I came to pick up my check, and he stole money. He didn’t pay my Doctor’s bill and I actually have proof. The Doctor’s office is suing me for money that Jerald SAID “ You have to pay your bills (laughing)”, and then NEVER pays the bill. I was actually injured in this wreck and will be for the rest of my life. Mr. Jerald said I was awarded 21,000 while in the presence of Richard Schwartz and then quickly hung the phone up. I only received $3600. He is a terrible person and he didn’t care about my well-being. He cared about getting and stealing the money the insurance company paid out. I pray that Mr. Jerald will pay for this evil act that was committed towards me. I will NEVER recommend Richard Schwartz’s Law firm and I will NEVER recommend Jerald Crawford. I guess I was treated this way because I was black, permanently disabled, and poor. Mr. Crawford looked down his nose at me like I was nothing more than trash. When I contacted him about my case, because he barely kept in touch, he always ALWAYS talked as if I was bothering him. Also, he took forever with my case only for me to get 3600 of my 21000 I was awarded. The medical bill was only 5189 because my insurance paid a portion of the bills after the wreck. The Doctor office NEVER received payment. Since the wreck, my neck has worsened and some days I don’t get out of bed. I feel I deserved more even if I am black & disabled. As we were leaving I saw Mr. Crawford greet his WHITE client with so much joy and politeness.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
