Overview
Thomas K. Riley was born and raised in Fulton, Missouri and graduated from Westminster College (B.A., Cum Laude 1993). Riley attended law school at Washington and Lee University, where he served on the Law Review, was inducted into the honorary society, the Order of the Coif, and graduated Magna Cum Laude in 1997. Before entering private practice, Riley served as law clerk for the Hon. Ann K. Covington on the Missouri Supreme Court.
After joining the firm in 1998, Riley has represented clients across the state and country including the City of Fulton, the Callaway County Commissioners, the Audrain County Commissioners, The Callaway Bank, the state's largest lobbying firm, the county’s largest title company, state-wide trade associations, and national companies including pharmacy chains, construction companies, and manufacturers. He has practiced before dozens of state trial courts, federal trial courts, the Missouri Court of Appeals, and the Missouri Supreme Court and written numerous articles and chapters for legal publication.
During this time, Riley has closed over one hundred million dollars in business and real estate transactions including multiple sales of businesses worth thirty million dollars or more. In litigation, Riley has won over ten million dollars in verdicts and settlements including cases exceeding five million dollars.
Riley has the highest possible rating from the Martindale-Hubbell attorney peer-review rankings of "AV" and has been designated a SuperLawyer, which honors no more than five percent of practicing attorneys in the state, every year since 2020. In 2024, Riley was named by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as one of the 30 most influential commercial real estate lawyers in the state. He is currently President of the Callaway County Bar Association.
