Firm Information

Overview

When people in and around Fulton, Missouri, need expert assistance for a broad array of legal matters, including estate planning and probate, family law and real estate, they turn to Riley Brazas. Our law office has a history in Callaway County that traces back more than 100 years. We are proud to have earned the prestigious rating of AV Preeminent* from Martindale-Hubbell for our prowess and high ethical standards.

During the estate planning process, we help clients preserve assets via trusts, or family limited partnerships, ensure a client's wishes are honored by drafting wills and powers of attorney, or conduct high-level estate tax planning, and we take the time to assess and strategize around each client's unique goals.

In addition to estate planning, our law office handles sensitive family law matters. We have experience representing husbands, wives, mothers, fathers, stepparents and grandparents in straightforward and complex cases. Specifically, some of the issues we take on include divorce, paternity, child custody and visitation, child support, maintenance, property division and adoption. We offer both mediation and litigation services.

When our attorneys are not overseeing estate planning and family law cases, they are assisting with residential and commercial real estate transactions. Beyond purchases and sales, we handle lease agreements, 1031 exchanges, foreclosures, and landlord and tenant issues. Our law office is knowledgeable regarding contract disputes, quiet title actions, adverse possession matters, boundary disputes and most other real estate concerns.

Additionally, we offer a full range of general legal services and accept credit cards as payment. We work with clients in the towns of Fulton, Jefferson City, Mexico, Montgomery City and Columbia as well as the greater counties of Callaway, Audrain, Boone, Montgomery, and Cole.

    Recommends this Law firm
We have used Tom Riley for many years as our company attorney as well as a source of knowledge in other business aspects. Scott and I would - more than - highly recommend him and his entire firm. Tom is at the top of his career and knows how to protect your interests with truth and fairness. He’s not afraid to turn down a case that he doesn’t think needs to move forward, and he will give you an honest, professional opinion instead of moving forward with doubts. He loves to win! If given all the information to defend you - he will retain it, fight for your rights and secure those rights.

Your Profile?  Update Now

When viewing a listing, consider the state advertising restrictions to which lawyers and law firms must adhere, as well as our FindLaw.com Legal Directory disclaimer. Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
