Attorney Information
Overview
I have been a practicing attorney since June 4, 1979. During that period of time, I have practiced in all areas of the law, except federal taxation. I’ve handled criminal misdemeanors and felonies. I’ve conducted civil litigation, prepared wills, filed estates, drafted contracts, acted as a mediator, acted as guardian ad litem, conducted discovery, prepared for trial, conducted trials, filed appeals before the Eastern District Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the State of Missouri. I have handled administrative appeals before the Social Security Administration and state administrative agencies. I have presented for zoning hearings and filed the appeal from those zoning hearings.
Literally, there is virtually nothing that I haven’t done in the practice of law at one time or another in the last 38 years.

Hired Attorney 2019-2020Our family highly recommends Attorney Stanley Schnarre and his competent legal staff. Over a period of approximately 18 months he represented us in a lawsuit. Attorney Schnarre possess an outstanding working knowledge of the many complex laws confronting people today and in litigating cases before the courts. His many years of experience in representing many clients in a variety of different cases was a significant positive factor in the final outcome of the case. We observed that not only did opposing counsel have great respect for Attorney Schnarre, but so did the judge. We are grateful for his patience, honesty, frankness, and encouragement in guiding our family through the maze of the legal world during a difficult time. Thank you Attorney Schnarre, you are indeed a credit to your profession. Ron Bergmann, CPA

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
