Attorney Information
Overview
My entire legal life has been in spent in Kansas City. The first four years in the profession were spent working for defense firms. I defended corporations in environmental disputes, product defect and personal injury cases. After four years I took my knowledge of the law, and the defense perspective and opened a personal injury and employment firm. We only represent individuals. There is no comparison between working for a corporation and working for an individual. I have truly enjoyed each client with whom I have had the opportunity to work.
The scope of my practice includes representing plaintiffs who have been injured by the negligence or intentional act of others. This encompasses claims involving injury from products such as medical devices, single event personal injury claims, as well as claims involving discrimination in employment or wrongful termination. I also represent adult and child victims of sexual abuse/assault.
In addition to my day-to-day litigation practice I have the honor of serving on several committees. In 2016 I was appointed to the Executive Committee of The Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys. We work to protect the civil justice system and the 7th amendment. This commitment includes making frequent visits to our state Capitol to advocate for and protect the rights of individuals within our state. I am honored to currently serve as the President of MATA. I am one of only five females to hold this position in the 70 plus years of the organization. I am a state delegate in the American Association for Justice, a national organization working to promote justice for injured persons, and to safeguard victims’ rights.
Anne has held leadership positions in Multi District Litigations (MDLs) for nearly ten years. As part of an MDL leadership team, she actively litigates the cases on behalf of all plaintiffs who are included in the MDL. Anne was first appointed to an MDL leadership position in 2017. At that time, she was appointed as an Executive Committee of an MDL pending in The United States District Court of New Hampshire. That leadership team was tasked with overseeing the litigation of thousands of cases pending in the MDL relating to hernia mesh products. Shortly after the 2017 appointment, Anne was recruited to be part of the leadership team in the Bard hernia mesh MDL pending in New Hampshire State Court. Following the conclusion of the hernia mesh litigations, and in September of 2023, Anne was appointed to the Executive Committee of an MDL in The United States District Court of Arizona, involving implantable port catheter devices. In the Fall of 2024, Anne was appointed as one of 3 co-lead counsels to litigate another MDL involving implantable port catheters in the United States District Court for the Southern District of California. These leadership positions have imparted unique knowledge, which benefits the firm’s clients pursuing claims associated with medical device defects.
I was privileged to serve on the merit selection panel for the reappointment of a magistrate judge for the United States District Court of the Western District of Missouri as well as the selection of a new magistrate to fill a vacancy within the Court. In May of 2023, I was awarded the Distinguished Counselor Award from the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association which recognizes a member who demonstrates professionalism, collegiality, and courtesy in the practice of law. I enjoy practicing in the Kansas City legal community and have met many outstanding attorneys in my 25 years of practice.

Some lawyers publish comparative information regarding the services that they provide which may be subject to specific comparative communications restrictions.
How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
