    Hired Attorney 2018-2020
I was not impressed with his attitude at all. I expect anyone I hire to listen when I speak, not ignore me on the phone while they work on other cases and not even be present enough to recognize when I asked a question. He can be very disrespectful in these ways. I also don't appreciate the arrogance that is seen when he makes his clients cases about him. Frequently he got information wrong on my case, and had to be corrected. I don't feel like he did his best for me, because he doesn't care about his clients, and/ or doesn't want to make insurance company lawyers mad at him because he has to work with them on other cases too. It's like he's balancing his interests against the client, at least that's how I felt. I work in the medical field and not law, but due diligence is important in any professional field, or whenever you take somebody's money, and he just didn't put in the work without being pushed to. He's quick to brag about his 30 years as a workers compensation attorney but his communication is just terrible, i would NOT recommend.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
