Hired Law firm 2024I hired Dakota Paris to represent me in an intense divorce and custody battle. If I could give him ten stars I would! He and his staff went above and beyond! He always guided me in the right direction and kept me well informed about everything. He got me exactly wanted when I first spoke with him. Dakota is very knowledgeable about the way to go about making sure that my case was handled correctly. He was also very compassionate and sincere the whole time. When I would get overwhelmed throughout the process, he not only offered me great legal advice, but also gave great support and advice from his perspective from being a parent himself. Dakota truly is a great person and absolutely amazing lawyer. He’s the best! I’d recommend him to anyone looking for a great, honest lawyer that will get the job done! He has a great reputation in the community and in the courts. Thank you for everything Dakota. I wouldn’t have made it through this stressful time and this divorce without you! Thank you for all your hard work in getting the outcome that was best for my daughter and me. I’d recommend Dakota to everyone for any type of case when you need an amazing, professional, honest, reliable, caring, and well respected lawyer for. Thanks again Dakota! - Megan M

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
