Hired Attorney 2023-2024My experience with Tony Westbrooks was infuriating. While this simple case was to be settled in three months, it took six, and only after constant reminders after three months. He quoted me $1k without stipulating that the quote pertained to the legal paperwork. He did, however, inform, eventually send me information that the money held by Social Security was the property of Medicaid, I was informed that I would be reimbursed for his legal fees and a little over $200. I was told his work was done unless I prepaid him an additional $1k. Because my finances are precarious, I chose to submit the paperwork independently. He ignored multiple attempts to provide the address, so I assumed I needed to offer him another $1k to tell me. I asked what I must do to get him to provide an answer. Months have passed, and I have yet to receive a response. My ethics and compassion would preclude me from treating anyone as I have been treated by this attorney.

Hired Attorney 2024-2029Tony is perfect. I like my experience with him so far. I have a lot of legal matters I need him to handle. Annulment, cyber stalking with big bucks, warrants for traffic violations, bad checks, etc. He is a God sent. Thank you Tony. God bless you.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
