    Consulted Attorney 2000-2022
Rod Pederson was the attorney representing my parents' estate. Every single interaction with him in writing and in person he made rude, disparaging, demeaning and disrespectful comments to me. My parents through ot their marriage had legacy files containing not only their will but also intended plans for their estate after their demise. Upon the death of my father Rod witnessed the LW&T of my mother who had advanced dementia and advised destruction of legacy files. Rod advised the executor in multiple ways she might benefit from my mother's assets prior to and after her death. Rod authorized executor to come on my property without owner consent to make "improvements" allegedly as part of estate settlement. Rod's brother Darryl advised me to encourage my father to pay family caregivers to spend down estate not disclosing 24000 parents given to executor to avoid nursing home placement and then benefiting executors family further who prevented me and my family from interacting with my parents for many months prior to my father's death. Rod's brother Darryl advised executor to put all my parents belongings in locked storage to mutually divide at a later date, with his assistance, if neccessary. All items were on executor's property so she assumed ownership of parental property, distributed my parents property to community people prior to allowing me to review and request items from the estate, and with remaining items executor chose which items would be for her and her family with residuals being given to me after several demands and threats as to how remaining items would be obtained. Multiple items in estate items listed for propate had been given to me by parents more than a decade prior to their dearh and several had false inflated value listed as part of division of the estate. Rod Peterson never honored the wishes of the deceased and made sure executor and family benefited in every way possible. I should have known better, as Mr Shors, previous partner in firm did not disclose legal issues and intentions regarding my daughter in 2000 leading to me having diminished than almost losing parental rights to my daughter because legal information was not disclosed in a timely fashion to obtain fair, appropriate legal advice in advance. This law firm may do a lot of good, yet every interaction I have had the brothers intentionally deceived.

    Hired Attorney 2015
My dad was Carl R. Johnson of Cut Bank; he died on June 24, 2015 and Rodney was the attorney who was theoretically representing the estate, however it seemed as if he was billing my dad's estate for the work he was doing on the behalf of my my dad's obese granddaughter (who spent her entire adult life free-loading off of my dad) and the leech who married her for her "grandpa's" money. I fired Rodney in August of 2015, but I should have done so the day after my dad died.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
