Overview
Hector J. Carbajal II is the founder of Carbajal Law. Prior to forming Carbajal Law, Mr. Carbajal co-founded Smith Carbajal in September 2017 and previously served as a partner at Carbajal & McNutt, LLP from February 2006 through August 2017. Before that, he was a shareholder at the prominent Las Vegas firm Lionel Sawyer & Collins, where he began his legal career as an associate attorney in September 1997.
Mr. Carbajal focuses his practice on complex civil and business litigation, representing clients in high-stakes disputes involving business torts, breach of contract claims, corporate governance and shareholder conflicts, covenants not to compete, product liability matters, health care disputes, entertainment-industry litigation, and other sophisticated commercial controversies.
A seasoned trial lawyer, Mr. Carbajal has prosecuted and defended major multi-party cases as well as complex civil matters in state and federal courts nationwide. His courtroom advocacy and strategic judgment have earned the respect of clients and peers alike. He routinely guides clients through every stage of litigation, from early case assessment through discovery, motion practice, trial, mediation, settlement conferences, and appeals, always with a focus on achieving the best possible outcome.
Mr. Carbajal has been recognized as a Super Lawyers selectee for 2017-2025, an honor awarded to a limited percentage of attorneys in each state based on independent research, peer nominations, and professional achievement.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
