Overview
Kevin A. Darby is a partner and founding attorney of Darby Law Practice, representing individuals and businesses in bankruptcy in Reno, including Chapter 7, Chapter 11, Chapter 13, and helping clients in all manner of debt relief from loan modifications and foreclosure avoidance to debt settlement and rebuilding credit after bankruptcy.
Kevin earned his B.A. degree from the University of Nevada, Reno before earning his Juris Doctorate law degree from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, where he graduated With Distinction in the top ten percent of his class, earning a position on the Dean’s List for all three years of his legal education. Kevin’s law school career also included being named as a recipient of the McGeorge Scholar Award Scholarship, Walter Alexander Memorial Scholarship, Verne Adrian and Annabel McGeorge Academic Achievement Scholarship and Nevada Endowed Scholarship.
Mr. Darby began his legal career at Woodburn & Wedge, the oldest law firm in the State of Nevada. While at Woodburn & Wedge, Mr. Darby’s practice focused on representing creditors and secured lenders in bankruptcy proceedings and litigation matters, as well as representing business in various corporate matters. Mr. Darby thereafter accepted a job offer with Downey Brand, LLP, a large multi-state law firm with offices in Reno, Nevada. While at Downey Brand Mr. Darby continued to focus his practice on bankruptcy-related matters, primarily representing banks and other creditors.
Ultimately, Mr. Darby determined that working for banks and large institutional creditors was less than fulfilling and decided to cross over to the other side to represent individuals and small businesses facing financial distress by founding the Darby Law Practice to provide bankruptcy in Reno help to consumers and small businesses. Since making that decision, Kevin has represented countless individuals and small businesses in out-of-court debt restructuring and workouts, as well as Chapter 7, 11 and 13 bankruptcy proceedings.
As an experienced Reno bankruptcy attorney, Kevin has been sought after as a speaker for the American Bankruptcy Institute, the Small Business Development Center at the University of Nevada, Reno, and various other local business organizations. Kevin has also appeared on the Jon Sanchez Show, Nevada Outlook, and the Money Watch segment on KVTN Channel 2 News. Kevin has twice been recognized by his peers as recipient of the Tower of Strength Award from the Young Lawyers Section of the State Bar of Nevada.
