Hired Attorney 2021Laurie is a CRIMINAL lawyer. She tried to financially take advantage of me after I told her that I had a neurological disability. We agreed upon a $350 an hour fee for her services but the contract stated $400 per hour. I questioned her about this but she ignored my email. Laurie LIED to the judge in court stating that I signed the contract, which I did not and she could not produce any evidence of. Laurie also lied to the court telling the judge that I paid less for the retainer than I actually did. Laurie also broke our attorney/client confidentiality privilege by talking about our communications to the judge. I made a website about Laurie's horrible work and representation, LaurieLacoste dot com , and Laurie commissioned someone to hack my website and perform a Denial of Service attack on it, which is a federal crime and also violates the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act. In my first conversation with Laurie, she was using vulgarities with me, which is extremely unprofessional. Laurie also was telling me about how another client of her was demanding a refund because of her failed representation. Laurie should not be trusted. There are other people pursuing charges against Laurie for her criminal acts. Please visit LaurieLacoste dot com to find out more.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
