    Hired Attorney 2024
In my opinion, dealing with this firm—and specifically attorney Robbin Caruso—was a disastrous experience that others need to be warned about. What I experienced felt exploitative, misleading, and entirely unprofessional. I was initially provided with an estimate that seemed reasonable and in line with what other attorneys had quoted as a flat fee for the entire case. However, after six months of vague updates and repeated reassurances that costs were "minimal," I was blindsided by a final bill that was five times the original estimate—FIVE TIMES! Not only was this shocking compared to their initial estimate, but it was also five times what other attorneys had quoted as a flat fee for the same work. To put this into perspective, imagine being quoted $20,000 for a service, only to be charged $100,000 in the end. This level of overcharging feels beyond unethical—it feels predatory. Adding to this, I did not receive a single bill for six months—not one. I repeatedly asked for updates on the charges, but instead of providing an itemized statement, Robbin Caruso assured me that costs were "minimal" and under control. What reputable firm operates for months without sending invoices to its clients? In my view, this lack of transparency raises serious questions about their billing practices and their intentions. Throughout the process, I felt misled and dismissed. When I inquired about costs, Robbin Caruso repeatedly told me not to worry, assuring me that the firm was "efficient." That was not my experience at all. The case itself was straightforward, yet I was billed an amount that I believe was completely unjustifiable. Adding to my frustration, I felt belittled in my interactions, and professionals I was working with were referred to in disparaging terms. As a foreigner, I can't help but feel that I may have been targeted because of my perceived vulnerability. Furthermore, I now question the authenticity of the positive reviews that led me to trust Robbin Caruso and this firm in the first place. Based on my personal experience, the service I received was so vastly different from what those reviews described that I find it hard to believe they reflect genuine client experiences. It makes me wonder if those reviews might have been paid for or fabricated. Based on my personal experience, I do not believe Robbin Caruso or this firm operates with the honesty or ethics clients deserve. I strongly encourage anyone considering them to seek other legal counsel. What happened to me felt like financial exploitation on an extraordinary level, and I hope my experience serves as a cautionary tale to others.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
