Hired Law firm 2016-2020Weir and Associates is an absolutely incredible law firm. I had the pleasure of meeting both of the partners and worked with one of them, Rob Luthman, directly on my personal injury/medical malpractice case. Not only was Rob professional, timely with responses, and knowledgeable, but he also kept me in the loop throughout the whole process. My case was very complicated, with multiple entities involved. Rob gave me constant updates (in layman’s terms—not lawyer-speak) and truly made me feel as though I was his only client. I’m very aware that I was not, which is why it was so incredible. He worked so hard on my case and I cannot articulate enough how much I appreciate it. We were able to settle on the medical malpractice portion of the lawsuit but we did go to trial for the personal injury piece. Rob was beyond well-prepared but also clear, concise, and articulate in the courtroom. More importantly to me though, he really got to know me so that he was able to provide the jury with both objective facts as well as portraying me as a person—who I am, who I was before the injury, what was lost as the result of my injury, and how I will be impacted for the rest of my life because of it. That “human” element is often lost in court. It was not here. This is, in my opinion, one of the greatest contributing factors in how he was able to win the jury over. In the end, the jury ruled in my favor. I’m eternally grateful for all that Rob did for me and I cannot recommend Weir and Associates enough.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
