Overview

Managing Partner, Sutnick & Sutnick, LLC

Warren S. Sutnick is a highly skilled trial attorney with more than three decades of experience, specializing in defending individuals charged with serious criminal offenses as well as DUI/DWI. Certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Municipal Court Law Attorney, Mr. Sutnick has successfully handled thousands of cases across New Jersey and New York.

A zealous advocate in the courtroom, Mr. Sutnick is recognized for his expertise in DWI law and has appeared in nearly every municipal court in New Jersey. Known for his strategic and tireless defense, he is deeply committed to securing the best possible outcome for each client—no matter how long it takes. While many cases involve similar legal issues, Mr. Sutnick understands that every client has unique personal circumstances that deserve individualized attention and respect.

Mr. Sutnick began his legal career as a prosecutor with the Brooklyn District Attorney’s Office, where he served as a senior trial attorney in the Homicide Bureau. His experience as a prosecutor gives him an edge as a defense attorney, allowing him to anticipate how the State will build a case and skillfully dismantle it in court.

Following his time in public service, Mr. Sutnick worked in the financial sector at PaineWebber in Weehawken and later as counsel for Morgan Stanley in New York City. He has lectured internationally on financial crimes and money laundering.

Since 2002, Mr. Sutnick has served as the managing partner of Sutnick & Sutnick, LLC. He also teaches continuing legal education courses for various county bar associations and is frequently called upon to share his expertise with fellow attorneys.

Highly respected in the legal community, Mr. Sutnick has been named a New Jersey Super Lawyer for ten consecutive years and has been consistently recognized by Bergen County and (201) Magazine for his excellence in criminal defense.

Mr. Sutnick is admitted to practice in both state and federal courts in New Jersey and New York. He earned his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and his law degree from Brooklyn Law School.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
