Hired Law firm 2018-2019Sal offered to do my divorce. He was very nice in the beginning. If I called him, he took 2 to 3 weeks to call me back or didn’t respond at all. Not aggressive at all in court the other Lawyer just talked right over him. The only thing I got in my divorce was 10,000 from a 401(k) and he took every dime of it to pay himself. I have absolutely nothing also I have two special-needs children and he did not help me at all with anything to do with them didn’t even mention them got so I got base minimum support when my ex-husband owns a HVAC company and I had zero income. I got every single bill and the kids full-time and my ex-husband walked away with every dime he had he gives me $100 a week for two special-needs kids. This lawyer should be ashamed of himself and when I called and asked him to fix it, he flat out told me I will not go back to court and make myself look bad. Also had me sign away basically everything and this was my first divorce. I didn’t know any better but that’s what you hire a lawyer for right? Had me sign away everything and threatened to either sign the paperwork this way or he was done being my lawyer or I could pay thousands of dollars to go to trial. Those are the options he gave me. To this day I’m still having issues with my ex-husband over this. If you wanna win your divorce, don’t use someone who does his best interest and not yours. He did not care that I walked away with absolutely nothing and had to pay fines for taking my 401(k) out early and didn’t even do it through the marriage so I had $1000 fine to pay for taking it out to pay him. I also tried to have him file my divorce in 2018 and he waited to file until April of the following year so now I’m the defendant and my ex-husband was able to file while I was waiting for mine to be filed so he’s the plaintiff. So that looked great too on me.

Hired Law firm 2020After using another attorney that I was unhappy with, I call Mr. Depinto. He was very upfront, honest and explained clearly the outcome of my case and what I was to expect. He always took the time to answer my phone calls and was very knowledgable. He was very professional and did not seem to be just out to make a profit like some attorneys. I would highly reccomend Salvatore DePinto.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
