Verified ClientHired Attorney 2024-2025Hired Mr. Stein during one of the toughest times of my life. Very high conflict custody dispute. If you’re dealing with the silver bullet divorce/separation, an illegitimate TRO, or High conflict/unreasonable coparent; Stein’s your guy! Granted, you’ll of course have to make some concessions in court, but overall Michael was able to get me a satisfactory outcome.

Verified ClientHired Attorney 2024-2025Michael went above and beyond with my divorce. If you’re searching for a family law attorney in New Jersey that will work for you around the clock and every day of the week, search no further than him. Communication was always timely and very clear. Every bit of my process was spelt out and he knew when to push the throttle up appropriately when my ex-wife’s attorney was either unresponsive or making unreasonable demands. His pricing was beyond competitive and he was always up front with costs and billing. As a newly single dad of two, this put my mind at ease immensely. I honestly cannot say enough of how stellar of an attorney he was for me!

Verified ClientHired Attorney 2024Mr. Stein along with his paralegal Ms. D are excellent. Both are diligent, very empathetic, and go above and beyond to thoroughly prepare. After years of wasting time and money, I finally found a law office I can count on to represent me in my seemingly never ending family matter. It’s a good feeling to know that individuals as knowledgeable as the aforementioned actually have your back and are confident in speaking up for you. Especially, in the moments where you are extremely anxious and just want to get things over with. From my experience, dealing with family matters in the court system is very draining but Mr. Stein made my situation a whole lot easier than I anticipated and I truly appreciate and thank him for that! Mr. Stein was able to perform and deliver on the circumstances I was seeking in my case. 100% recommend.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
