Hired Attorney 2017-2019I decided to go with an attorney here because of the great reviews. To keep a long story short, I recieved the bare minimum when it came to my workmans comp case. There were many aspects of the case I discussed with the attorney, such as having the insurance company cover medical needs, needs like an ergonomic work desk. The attorney I worked with for over 2 years didn't even show up during my final hearing, he sent someone I've never met before, who told me to not question and take the settlement. None of my medical concerns were addressed. I was left with the option of, settle and get something, or go to trial and not get anything at all. My condition has worsened since this time, and I am left to figure out what to do alone. The attorney took thousands of dollars, a % of my settlement, for doing the bare minimum. While I need every last penny from the case, now that I am left to pay for medical expenses I cannot cover. Be careful who you trust, especially when it comes to workmans comp. Update 5/27/2020 "YOU ARE ON NOTICE": David Lande is an incompetent scam artist, and more of a car salesman than an attorney. I have been unable to proceed with my claim, due to David Landes negligence. David not only did not provide me with a plan for after his no-show final court hearing, but he did not finish basic documentation. I have been unable to proceed with my claim, due to David not notifying the insurance company that he no longer represents me. A year after the settlement! I was unaware on how to contact the insurance companies agent, and was unable to due to Landes negligence. To make matters worse, when I calmly asked David to follow up with my adjusters request, David responded by saying this; "Let’s be clear about something; I do not like you and even seeing your email angers me...But after I do that I expect you to stop harassing me and finding another attorney. If you need further information on the file you can contact my secretary Stacy to assist you but I do not want to hear from you again". I responded by telling David I will be forwarding his response to the insurance company and agent working the claim. He then responded by saying; "You were one of the worst clients I have ever represented. Since your parents also seem to dislike you, there is clearly some merit in what I say. So take what little life experience and knowledge you have, try and improve on it as a person, and hopefully it will serve you later on in life". After being respectful, I finally gave this jerk a piece of my mind. I mentioned how he is more of a cars salesman than an attorney. He tells you what you want to hear as a client, once you are "locked in" his words become empty. He responded with; "I don’ read your emails and this is the last time; do not harass me any further or I am going to file criminal charges and pursue civil litigation against you. CEASE AND DESIST FROM CONTACTING OR HARASSING ME ANY FURTHER. YOU ARE ON NOTICE". David Lande had a job, he did not fulfill his duties as my representing attorney. I cannot speak on the behalf of all Gill and Chamas, as I have not been represented by all of their attorneys. When it comes to David Lande, STAY AWAY. David Lande is by far the most unprofessional attorney I've ever worked with. I would go as far to say he is the most unprofessional person I've ever dealt with in general. If you allow this scam artist to represent you, it is at your risk. You will most likely get the bare minimum. Do yourself a favor and do as much research on the right attorney to represent your case! Why represent someone if you hate them?! This attorney was a conflict of interest since the beginning!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
