Hired Law firm 2022-2023Mr James R Burkett was hired by the executer of a will in which my mother is listed as a beneficiery. When my mother requested an accounting of the estate finances from Mr. Burkett, which he must provide upon request as per NYS Law, he ignored her repeated requests for 3 months..she then notified him that she had no choice but to report him to the Bar Association, his response was as follows: "we have determined that an accounting is not necessary ...and any attempt to intimidate, threaten ,or bully me will be considered harassment..your communication with me will no longer be answered..signed James R. Consulted Law firm 2020I tried to get this firm to help me with a problem i am having with a moving company that destroyed EVERY box and all of my furniture. I did their thing on their site to get someone to contact me.... What a joke that was weeks ago. Then i called to try and get help. I was bounced around between secretaries a few times and placed on hold a lot before leaving a voicemail with a "Martha" who was going to get back to me the following monday... That was over a week ago as well. Don't bother with this joke of a firm in my opinion

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
