Consulted Attorney 2021-2022Ours case resulted from a nonviolent civil resistance action at the Hancock drone warfare base near Syracuse. Sujata even got students from her Cornell class involved in our defense since she believes legal education should address the salient issues of our time. We met with her students and had a very fruitful discussion about the basic concepts of civil disobedience and some of the legal strategies that are employed in court. We were representing ourselves and had asked Sujata to assist us in hearings at DeWitt Town Court. She helped us draft a motion to dismiss based on the new speedy trial requirements (2019).
