Hired Attorney 2000-2001A no Good slime ball, took money kept asking for more and blamed his partners. A ham and egger. If you are in trouble do not call him.he had no business taking case since there was conflict of interest. I tell real lawyers the story and they are incredulous he was not disbarred.

Hired Attorney 1999-2000I was assaulted and faught back causing them injury and I got arrested. I hired Barry Silver to defend my case with great regreat. I was indicted yet his office failed to notify me, he kept telling me I was going to get 12 years in prison when the other man was screaming out he was going to kill me and ran at me so I took him down a clear case of self defense yet my own attorney kept telling me to plea out to 12 years in prison. I eventually fired him and called the ADA direclty myself and worked out a plea to probation with restitution. I didn't want to plea but acting as my own attorney it was the best deal I thought I would get. Years later I discovered my attorneys step son was friends with the so called victim... When you see somw low life covering himself with cheap gold jewlery and greasy hair like Barry avoid him and certainly dont use him as your attorney. Best of luck to all

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
