Hired Attorney Joel N. Yacoob 2024
Extremely Unprofessional and Untrustworthy – Do Not Recommend This individual was one of the worst hires I have ever made. He behaved in an unprofessional, unpredictable, and reckless manner throughout the case. His decisions were impulsive, poorly thought out, and reflected a lack of experience and basic professionalism. His conduct gave the impression of someone immature and unreliable, which seriously harmed the chances of success in my case. Rather than providing competent legal guidance, he relied on aggression, shouting, and false confidence, apparently believing that being louder and more confrontational would somehow impress the court. In reality, this approach only damaged my position and made matters worse. Judges and court systems are not fooled by this behavior, and his methods showed a complete misunderstanding of how the legal process actually works. In my own custody case, his behavior escalated to outright misconduct. Shortly before trial, he suddenly became hostile toward me, reprimanded me repeatedly, and made personal judgments instead of focusing on my legal representation. On the day of the trial, he demanded that I give him permission to withdraw from the case. He went so far as to threaten that if I did not agree, he would portray me negatively in court, make false claims about my behavior with my children, and ensure that I would lose the case. These statements were made spontaneously and without any factual basis. Only after I made it clear that I had recorded the conversation and would bring it to the judge did he back down. Even then, he asked the judge to withdraw, and I agreed simply to avoid further harm. I do not regret that decision. After investigating the story that happened here, I found out that some time before the trial, someone who takes care of the other side [and I know who also] reached out to him and for the right price, he promised that the day before the trial, he would make sure that I found me alone on the water without a lawyer. In other words, he cooperated properly with the other side during the time that he specifically represented me. This is a kind of traitor that the world has never seen, a thief! He took money from me and until now worked for the other side and completely betrayed me I have a friend who also hired him for his lawyer also for a custody case and he also had such a similar story in a simple morning he receives an email from the lawyer that the case was simply and quickly closed, they had already held immediately to make an agreement after the judge forced the other side that they had to do it, their lawyer from the other party demanded that they want to close the case and He lied and said in his name that his client is agree of it This means that after paying so much hard money, thousands of dollars to the court and after already thinking that he was close to winning, he closed the whole case without his permission, the thief that he is.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
