Hired Law firm 2011-2014I got divorced 7 years ago and it’s taken me this long to write a review. As I read all the previous reviews... it’s clear she has a vendetta against mothers. Maybe she wasn’t a good one herself... or maybe she just was never one.....who knows! Maybe she just wanted to impress the fathers... i will never know her logic. I took care of my children while my husband worked full time and chose to coach 3 sports. He was never home and asked for 50 percent custody and so he would not have to pay child support and in exchange for giving up coaching. I didn’t even want what i was entitled to in child support, i wanted just to raise the kids for the simple reason that i had been for their entire lives upto that point. Our 3 year old daughter was even sexually injured in his care. I fought it in court and won that fight . And even with that, I tried relentlessly to show her he was not sincere about making the kids a priority over his coaching. But She refused to see that I was the primary caregiver and granted him shared physical custody with no child support. Well... barely 2 years later... he went back to coaching, left the kids with me anyway and pays no child support. It’s terrible. She’s terrible! I don’t know what the issue is but, she should not be allowed to hold as much power as she does. It’s don'e so many children a disservice! Shame!

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
