Faith Miller is the proverbial scalpel in a drawer full of butter knives. If you are looking for divorce representation that is shrewd, experienced, strategic, and a solid source of focus in an otherwise tumultuous time, Faith is your attorney. I am currently nearing the end stages of a prolonged divorce process, and before arriving to Faith I had spent countless and fruitless hours shuffling paperwork and being outplayed, despite paying top dollar. Faith’s extensive command of the law and her deft use of an unexpected playbook have left me in awe. Since enlisting her services she has not only given me immediate and far reaching legal counsel, she has knocked the other side off balance, and formed a cogent strategy for moving ahead to a productive settlement. Faith was referred to me by a preeminent NYC trial lawyer as the ONLY person I should talk to in Westchester. Believe the hype. She is certainly the best.

16K for a single court appearance. SHE never handled the case. Gave a lawyer not even listed in the retainer agreement. If 10K retainer for a contested divorce doesn't cover a single court visit than what exactly does that value represent?? She's a thief preying on scared mothers at their weakest moment in life.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
