Hired Attorney 2021-2022I needed someone to write a Will for me and my husband, as we have 3 young children. I asked around and a friend recommended me to her. We met with her and she quoted me $5000 to help write up the Will since we didn't have a lot of assets. After about 2 months with her and the paperwork for the Will just about complete, she hinted that the price would be slightly higher than she she quoted. We thought about a thousand more. It was not. In the end, we received a bill of over $16,000. that was more than triple what she predicted. As you know, if you do not pay a lawyer, you will end up in court and they will win because you are in their court. Once we expressed concern about the end cost for the same amount of work she initially told us would be $5000, she became rude and unprofessional. I would NOT recommend her to anyone.

Consulted Attorney 2021-2022She is unethical and does not give good legal advice. She advises her clients who are executors of a Lat WILL , to deplete the estate after someone’s passes. That way they don’t have ti it out money to individuals named in the Will. Super shady

Hired Attorney 2022-2023Gail is all for her client. She advises the executor of a Last Will and Testament NOT to distribute funds in the estate but rather bleed the estate dry. She informs her client that they are under no timeline to pay out funds and most will not retain an attorney because it would cost too much money. Seems like she might get money under the table because she always advises her clients if this. Seems corrupt and abuses her power. Would not recommend unless you want to go to jail.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
