Attorney Information
Overview
Attorney Anjelika Abrahamyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, and moved to Toronto, Canada when she was fourteen. She received a bachelor’s of arts and science degree in criminology and sociolegal studies from University of Toronto in 2007. The four-year study of crime, law, order and security from a variety of disciplinary perspectives inspired her to become an attorney.
Anjelika went on to study law at Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School from 2010 to 2013. During law school, she received the Raymond Burr Award for academic excellence in criminal law and had continuously been in the dean’s list and an honor roll student. Anjelika also received certificates of merit in criminal law and Canadian administrative law. In the second year of law school she worked as a teaching assistant in a criminal law class, and completed an internship program with the Federal Defender Office, Detroit, Michigan, and an externship program with the Genesee County Prosecutor’s Office, Juvenile and Criminal Divisions, Flint, Michigan. In the last year of law school, Anjelika served on the Board of Editors for Thomas M. Cooley Law Review and wrote an article on the Survey of Ineffective Assistance of Counsel, Journal of Clinical and Practical Law, Vol. 15.3, 2014. She graduated cum laude in 2013.
Anjelika is admitted to practice law in New York State and is a member of the Bar Association of Erie County.
When asked what she likes most about her occupation as a personal injury attorney, Anjelika said “I joined William Mattar’s legal team in 2014 in order to help families through rough times. Some of my clients have not been involved in a motor vehicle collision before, and the legal process is foreign to them. They feel lost and frustrated. My goal with each client is to clarify the adjudication process of their claim, support every step of their way, and advocate their interests until they are justly compensated. I work hard to obtain the best possible result in the least amount of time to make my clients whole again. At the end of the day, the smile on my client’s face is a sign of my own success.” Anjelika is trilingual and is fluent in Russian and Armenian. She feels blessed to be able to represent Russian speaking clients.
In her spare time, Anjelika enjoys reading books, cooking/baking, gardening, traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She is a fan of Danielle Steel’s sweeping romances, and emotional family tales. Her favorite form of sport is swimming.
