Attorney Information
Overview
With her initial start beginning at the Mecklenburg County Public Defender’s Office, Katie Clary quickly became known for her tireless advocacy and ability to prevail for her clients, despite an extraordinary caseload. When she moved into private practice, Katie continued for more than ten years, advocating for those accused of crimes. It was after co-counseling on a few civil cases with her partner, Amanda Mingo, that Katie felt called to advocate for those who’d suffered personal injury or catastrophic loss. She responded to that call and transitioned to the firm’s civil practice, where she continues her tireless advocacy.
Ms. Clary graduated Summa Cum Laude, ranked first in her class at Queen’s College where she majored in business. After a successful business career, Katie entered Wake Forest’s School of Law in 1998 with her family (two small children and her husband) in tow and never looked back. In her second year at Wake Law, Katie was selected for the university’s prestigious Gabrielli National Moot Court Team. Her team made its way to the national competition where teams from universities across the country argued before the New York Supreme Court. Ms. Clary’s team prevailed, earning Wake Law the national title. Ms. Clary was named the competition’s “Best Oralist”. Upon her graduation in 2001, she was selected for the prestigious CALI award by her trial advocacy professors for recognition of her highly effective trial skills.
Katie is well-known throughout the courthouse for her aggressive advocacy, creative approach and preparedness. She has represented members of law enforcement, professional athletes and well-known members of the legal and business community. She prides herself on connecting with each of her clients and takes her role as counselor just as seriously as she does her role as advocate.
