Verified ClientHired Attorney 2025when I met Neil I had a good feeling about him. he had good self confidence always a plus. when it came to court Neil was on point made his opposition look pale a good thing. Neil did great some quality lawyering. I still have other matters for him to deal with and feel he will do well for me and himself on them as well.

Hired Attorney 2024My family needed an attorney that would guide us in a very serious legal matter. Mr. Stanifer was wonderful explaining things and guiding us through a tough process. We could not have asked for a better attorney in our time of criminal legal defense. I would 100% work with him again. Thank you Mr. Stanifer

Consulted Attorney 2025I spoke with Neil about a small matter I had. He was very easy to communicate with and talked to me in real terms. He spelled out what I should and shouldn't do. He was super helpful. He brought peace of mind to a sticky situation.

Hired Attorney 2024From time to time I think about how horrible he was. Very low opinion of his services, his communication, and ultimately his lackadaisical attitude. I have been very busy lately but when things slow down, I plan on making a complaint with the board. I had to hire another lawyer. He will not return the money he owes me for not working on my cases. He did not file the paperwork properly for an eviction making it harder to evict a meth dealer. Very shady lawyer. Stay away.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
