Raleigh Family Law Lawyer

Overview

Attorney Blake Larsen joined Raleigh Divorce Law Firm in June 2015. Prior to joining the firm, Blake worked at the North Carolina Department of Justice’s Division of Child Development and Early Education as an intern attorney under the guidance of the Division’s Assistant Attorney Generals.

At Raleigh Divorce Law Firm, Blake exclusively practices North Carolina family law. Since joining the Firm, he has assisted clients with various family law issues including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support, equitable distribution, domestic violence and negotiation of separation agreements. Blake has also assisted clients during the mediation process and uses that experience to help his clients attempt to resolve their family law issues with minimal conflict. Blake made the decision to become a family law attorney early in law school after taking several advanced family law courses and finding that family law offered a unique opportunity to help others navigate through one of the most difficult and stressful times of their lives.

Blake was born in Landstuhl, Germany as the son of a United States Army officer stationed overseas. During his time as a military dependent, he lived in ten different states and countries before his arrival here in Raleigh, North Carolina. Blake graduated from Auburn University with a B.A. in Journalism, where he was the Sports Editor of the university’s newspaper. He went on to attend and graduate from Florida Coastal School of Law in Jacksonville, Florida. Blake believes his early exposure to a variety of cultures as well as his ability to effectively communicate and forge new relationships has helped him to better understand his clients and the personal issues with which they require legal guidance.Blake practices primarily in Wake County but also accepts cases in Durham, Lee, and Franklin County to assist clients with their family law matters. He is a member of the Family Law Section of the North Carolina Bar Association and the Wake County Bar Association.

After multiple consultations with attorneys who were obsessed with the prospect of litigation, Blake was the only attorney who gave me an incredibly honest and realistic view of litigation and broke down the costs for me (all within a single consultation call). He thoroughly advised me on the best solutions/outcomes for my particular case and with his expertise, I was able to negotiate and create a separation agreement that was amenable to my ex spouse. He not only saved me from unnecessary financial burden, but a heavy emotional burden as well that comes with litigating. It is neither a cliche nor an exaggeration to say that Blake changed and impacted my life for the better.

I can't recommend Blake and Heather and the team at Raleigh Divorce Law Firm enough -- they helped me through a very difficult period in my life with the upmost tact and professionalism. I was nervous at first when I was shopping for a lawyer -- I had heard of attorneys who drag on cases so that they can make the most money off of their clients. However, what I experienced at Raleigh Divorce Law Firm was completely the opposite. You can trust Blake to look out for you and your family's best interest and to achieve the best resolution possible. Thank you again!

I’ll start by saying I could not be happier with the way Blake fought for my son and myself. As a father trying to navigate family court it can be very stressful. At times it’s overwhelming because you feel like the odds are stacked against you. Within two years I went from not seeing my son at all to having primary custody. Blake was extremely passionate in our trial. It was very clear that he takes his work very personally. He gave me great guidance on how to carry myself throughout this entire situation. When it came time for trial he was extremely well prepared and didn’t miss a thing. I’m grateful for all the work Blake has done for me and I would highly recommend him to anybody trying to navigate family court.

Recommendation

Blake Larsen absolutely made going through a very bad divorce into a more than positive experience. Blake is so personable. He always responded to emails or calls well before the end of the day and sometimes after-hours. He is just great. He made a point to get to know me and my family. He took such a personal interest that I could "feel" that he truly cared. I spend 5000 on another attorney who began this divorce process and after six months of no resolve; that 5000 was gone. Immediately Blake and the team of Raleigh Divorce Law Firm stepped up and within a matter of months, my case was resolved. I would recommend Blake to any woman, or man going through a divorce. He certainly did help me financially and emotionally. The entire firm is absolutely amazing. I'm so thankful for Heather, Lauren and Blake for all the help and loving care they took of me and my girls.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
