Hired Attorney 2022-2024The below review that disparages Attorney Vincent J Massa both distorts and, frankly, ignores what actually transpired. As it happens, in addition to being an excellent attorney, Mr. Massa discounted his fee by 50%. He also availed himself to our parents’ needs above and beyond anything we might have expected of him. As the family’s then PoA, I was in the room and inside of this process every step of the way, and I can assure anyone and everyone that everything Mr. Massa did on behalf of my parents was totally above-board, transparent, and 100% by the book. Regarding the suggestion that he was unaware of the condition of our late mother’s estate, that is equally fictitious. He never made a move without first consulting those of us who remained in her corner throughout her final days, so this claim that he was somehow negligent or otherwise oblivious to the circumstances unfairly disparages his role herein for reasons that remain at present unclear.

Hired Attorney 2023Vince was my parent's estate attorney when they recently redid their trust for the family. I can honestly say in all my dealings with lawyers, Vince is the most competent, patient, and knowledgeable attorney I have dealt with. I attended all of the meetings with my parents and Vince. He took the time to explain the entire process and what each document meant and why it was needed. He was patient and answered all questions my parents had before the documents were drawn up. Once they were ready for signing, he again explained the process and the next steps he and his firm would handle once the paperwork was filed with the county. Vince presented options to make regarding their estate and provided them with both pluses and minuses for each option so they could formulate a decision on their own. Even after all the work was completed, he followed up a month later to make sure they did not have any outstanding questions regarding their estate. He is competent and trustworthy. I would highly recommend him to anyone that needs estate assistance.

Consulted Attorney 2022-2023He over charged my parents. My mom died 4 months ago and his one returned phone call said he didn't know who in his office is handling the estate. So disappointed.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
