Overview
Alissa J. Sammarco currently practices law as sole practitioner at The Sammarco Law Firm LLC. Her current practice focuses on employment discrimination, labor law, workers’ compensation, personal injury and health insurance denials. She has litigated a multitude of cases ranging from product liability, auto accidents, dog attacks, slip and falls, nursing home negligence to employment discrimination and more.
Since 2021, Ms. Sammarco has been a neutral arbitrator of disputes between the US Postal Service and the National Association of Letter Carriers. She has rendered over 60 decisions on contractual as well as disciplinary issues. The issues include but are not limited to wage/hour, overtime assignment, bidding rights, unilateral changes, past practices, and just cause. She has decided additional issues of harassment and discrimination as well as application of federal benefits.
In 2023, Ms. Sammarco was added to the Neutral Mediator list for employment matters in the US District Court, Southern District of Ohio, Mediation Program.
Throughout her career, Ms. Sammarco has distinguished herself through service, receiving several awards. In 2012, she was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the Ohio Association for Justice. She has served as Chair of the Women’s Caucus and Chair of the Employment Law Section for the Ohio Association for Justice.
Ms. Sammarco has been a regular presenter of employment law issues for the National Business Institute since 2012, and also with the Ohio Bar Association and AFL-CIO UCAN regarding work injuries. She has been a part of seminars including Personal Injury, Labor Law, Employment Law, Human Resource Practices, ERISA, and Disability Accommodation under the Americans with Disabilities Act and the Rehabilitation Act.
Ms. Sammarco is also a poet and has published a number of poetry collections.

- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
