I was recommended to use Rutter & Russin when I had an explosion in my home and lost everything. The insurance company wanted to deny my claim. Mr. Rutter was able to fight the insurance company and get us a settlement. He was very professional, and attentive to our best interest. I would recommend this firm to anyone needing his service.

We met Bobby when he was inspecting damage to our home. We were in a very difficult situation and we immediately felt as if Bobby and Bob understood all the issues. We were very pleased with all interactions. We received resolution and feel very fortunate to have worked with them

I appreciated working with Bob Rutter. We were going through a devastating loss of property and personal items. I credit Bob with helping us settle the issues in a compassionate and competent manner. We were able to resolve and move on from this terrible time.

We were referred to the law firm when our home sustained severe damage during a storm. The damage was extensive and not immediately covered by our insurance. Had we not had the good fortune to meet with these lawyers, we would have lost everything. As it was, they were able to mediate a settlement due to their knowledge and experience. I am very thankful.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
