Eric Johnson stands out as an attorney who is not only highly intelligent and experienced, but also genuinely cares about his clients and their needs. The team collaborating with Eric Johnson is exceptional and consistently going above and beyond. I am incredibly impressed with this firm, words cannot express it. I cannot stress enough how much I recommend Eric Johnson.

Eric and Kim were great to work with, very knowledgeable about the law and very familiar with the court systems. I would have given them 5/5 stars except Eric keeps quite busy and was sometimes slow to respond. Overall, however, I felt like I had a solid legal team that helped reach a divorce settlement that was fair to both parties, which was my goal.

In 2022 I retained attorney Heather Sowald to represent me in my dissolution. While my spouse and I had agreed to divide everything equally, there were still a lot of details that had to be sorted out. Heather walked me through the process and provided me all of my options and made sure I was informed and understood before we began proceedings. She was very helpful, kind, and professional through the entire process. I would highly recommend Heather.

Heather Sowald, Susan Midkiff, and Kim Boltz are a highly professional and knowledgeable legal team. It was a pleasure to work with this team because they were personal, succinct, and prompt in replying to all emails, phone calls, and communications in addition to effectively working with the ex's legal team. Heather maximized her legal prowess and minimized legal fees. Heather is well versed in family law. I was fortunate in that my ex and I agreed to a peaceful dissolution over a potentially contentious divorce. I recommend Heather's team to anyone who finds themselves in the unfortunate position of needing a family law attorney. Thank you!

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
