Consulted Law firm 2022I contactwed Mr. Stump on August 19, 2022 at which time they set up an interview on August 24. I was told I would have to provide $100.00 "Cash" for the interrview. The interview went well and he advised me to call Atty. Zelbest in Lawton, Oklahoma. I called Mr. Zelbest an was advised he was not taking any immigration cases. I called Mr. Stump's office and advised them of Mr. Zelbest statement. I waited over an week and I got no calls from Mr. Stump's office. I called his office September 6 and left a message eith his secretary. I called again on September 8 and his secretary said mr . Stump was on vacation until September 9. I then called September 12, and was told he wasn't in the office, I called again September 13 and was told by the secretary that she would give him a message that I called and he would call back. September 14 and his secretary said he wasn't answering her emails to him, but she would try again (he was in his office?). I called again September 16 and his secretary said he hadn't answered her. Agai on September 21 and was told again that he hadn't answered his email's. I ask if I could be refered to another attorney and his secretary put me on hold, she came back and said she couldn't do that, I ask her "do what?" and she said she couldnt refer me to another attorney. I said thank you and hung up.

How do I choose a lawyer?
Consider the following:
- Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
- Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
- Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
- City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?
Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?
Here are a few to get you started:
- How long have you been in practice?
- How many cases like mine have you handled?
- How often do you settle cases out of court?
- What are your fees and costs?
- What are the next steps?
Want to check lawyer discipline?
It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:
- Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
- Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
- Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
