    Consulted Law firm 2025
I called this law firm about a possible medical malpractice case. I simply needed to know if I had a valid reason for filing a lawsuit. I spoke with Attorney Levin. First, I had difficulty hearing him since he was using his speaker phone. So I asked him politely if he could repeat his name and he responded by saying his name slowly, quite loudly and I must say rudely. From that point on I knew I would get nowhere with him and I was right. He told me the statute of limitations was running out and there would be no time to gather records, reports and whatever is needed to file a case. He definitely didn't want to be bothered with my case because he knew it wouldn't be a million dollar case. So sorry to have bothered you, Attorney Levin. I hope you never suffer the effects of radiation therapy which in my case were and still are unbearable. But if it would happen to you then I hope if you need a lawyer you find one with some compassion toward your situation. Just 1% more compassion than I received from you would make a lot of difference in how you would feel. I truly hope you never are treated the way I was by you. I hope you have a good day.

How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

  • Comfort Level – Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?
  • Credentials – How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?
  • Cost – How are the lawyer's fees structured — hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?
  • City – Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
